Module 2

The empowered fisherwoman

This module is foundational and covers concepts and language terms that underpin all other modules. You can skip this one and go straight to the assessment quiz if you like… but why would you? There’s so much interesting info packed in here.

Overview

Get ready for a trip back in time! In this module, we cast backwards to explore the role women have played in the history of recreational fishing, including an intriguing investigation into the impact of the rise of feminism in Australia. We’ll review anecdotes about how taking up fishing as a pastime can change a womans life, and discuss whether this influences a shift in what motivates women to take up fishing, compared with traditional male drivers. And to round out this inspirational module, we will theorise the potential impacts of having a more engaged female cohort on the future of recreational fishing in Australia.
